About NSO NSO NSO
"Nso Nso Nso" is a vibrant Igbo setting of the Sanctus, the great acclamation sung just before the Eucharistic Prayer. Composed by Chibi~, this piece brings a joyful, rhythmic energy to one of the most profound moments of the Mass. When the choir leads the congregation in singing "Nso nso nso" (Holy, holy, holy), it joins the earthly liturgy with the unending hymn of the angels and saints.
The arrangement is written in solfa notation and builds beautifully from its opening declarations of God's holiness. As the text moves into "Oseburuwa Chinek'igwe ndiagha" (Lord God of hosts), the melody lifts, carrying the voices into a bright and resounding "Hosanna n'elu kachelu" (Hosanna in the highest). The final section, the Benedictus ("O dingozi b'onye biara..."), introduces a gentle reverence before sweeping back into the triumphant Hosanna. It is a wonderful choice for Nigerian Catholic choirs looking to elevate the Liturgy of the Eucharist with an uplifting, indigenous melody.
