Nso Nso Nso by Johnpaul Chukwujekwu Okwor — Lyrics
About Nso Nso Nso
"Nso Nso Nso" is a vibrant Igbo setting of the Sanctus, composed by Johnpaul Chukwujekwu Okwor. From the very first notes, it draws the congregation into the great hymn of heaven. The repeated chants of "Nso" build a sense of awe and reverence, preparing the church for the peak of the Eucharistic prayer.
The arrangement shines in its rhythmic drive and joyful Hosannas. As the choir moves into "El'igwe n'ala juputara n'ebube gị" (Heaven and earth are full of your glory), the harmony opens up beautifully. The overlapping entries on "Hosana" give the different voice parts a chance to answer one another, creating a lively, echoing praise that rings through the sanctuary before the consecration.
It is an excellent choice for festive Masses and Sunday liturgies. The familiar words of "Ọ dị ngọzi bụ onye bịara n'aha Onyenweanyị" are carried on a melody that is both solemn and uplifting, making it easy for the faithful to join their voices with the choir loft in welcoming the Lord.
