NWATURU CHUKWU by Obioha Ogbonna — Lyrics
About NWATURU CHUKWU
"Nwaturu Chukwu" is a reverent Igbo setting of the Agnus Dei, the solemn Lamb of God prayer sung during the breaking of the bread. In this part of the Mass, the choir leads the congregation in a profound plea for mercy and peace just before Communion.
This arrangement by Obioha Ogbonna takes a familiar melody and gives it a gentle, rhythmic choral treatment. The voices move together in a steady, comforting cadence as they sing "Onye n'ekpochapu njo nke uwa" (You who take away the sins of the world). The repetition in the final phrases—asking for mercy ("meere anyi ebere") and finally for peace ("nye anyi udo")—creates a deeply moving moment in the liturgy, preparing the faithful to receive the Eucharist.
