NWATURU CHUKWU

"Nwaturu Chukwu" is a reverent Igbo setting of the Agnus Dei, the traditional Lamb of God sung during the breaking of the bread at Mass. Arranged with a steady, rhythmic flow, the piece draws the congregation into a unified plea for divine mercy and peace just before Communion.

The melody carries the familiar liturgical text—asking the Lord who takes away the sins of the world to have mercy—with a gentle but spirited momentum. In the choir loft, the repeated phrases of "meer'anyi ebere" allow the voices to build a layered, earnest petition. For the final invocation, the text shifts to "nye anyi udo," bringing the prayer to a calm and hopeful close as the people prepare to receive the Eucharist.
