About Duo seraphim

Richard Dering's Duo seraphim sets a powerful biblical text from Isaiah, depicting the seraphim calling to one another, 'Holy is the Lord God of Hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory.' The music also incorporates a second passage, traditionally associated with the Trinity, stating 'There are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost; and these three are one.' This Latin motet for two voices unfolds with imitative lines and soaring melodic passages, capturing the awe and majesty of the divine pronouncements. Its intimate voicing makes it suitable for smaller ensembles or for featured soloists within a larger choral context, offering a direct and expressive setting of profound theological statements.
