About Duo Seraphim

This setting of the Latin text from Isaiah 6:3 would be fitting for a service of Compline or Vespers, or for a concert programme exploring sacred texts. Jacob Handl’s Duo Seraphim is written for double choir (SATB.SATB), creating a rich, antiphonal texture. The music powerfully depicts the seraphim’s incessant cry of ‘Holy, Holy, Holy’, amplified by the two choirs singing in dialogue and in unison. The second section, which introduces the Trinity, further enhances the sense of divine glory. The full, resonant sound of the double choir is ideal for expressing the profound theological statement that the whole earth is full of God’s glory.
