About Duo Seraphim
Girolamo Belli's Duo Seraphim is a powerful motet for double choir (SSATBB), setting a sacred Latin text drawn from Isaiah. The music opens with a striking interplay between the two choirs, creating a sense of awe and majesty. The text speaks of the Seraphim calling to one another, proclaiming "Holy is the Lord God of Sabaoth. All the earth is full of his glory." This central refrain is supported by a further scriptural passage describing the unity of the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit. Belli crafts a rich and dynamic texture, using the combined forces of the six voice parts to convey the profound theological message of the text, culminating in a resounding affirmation of God's glory.
