About Hodie Christus natus est
Angelina Figus’s setting of Hodie Christus natus est opens with a joyous declaration of the Nativity, the voices of the SSA choir weaving a vibrant texture. The composer captures the ecstatic spirit of the text, where angels in heaven and saints on earth alike rejoice at the Saviour’s birth. The soaring Alleluia provides a triumphant conclusion to this motet, celebrating the divine arrival with unbridled energy. This sacred Latin text, a traditional Marian antiphon, is treated with a fresh yet reverent musical language, making it an uplifting choice for any choral programme seeking to express profound spiritual joy.
