About Hodie Christus natus est
Michael Kraf's Hodie Christus natus est is a powerful setting of the traditional Latin Christmas text, celebrating the birth of Christ. The words express the joy of the angels and archangels in heaven, the exultation of the righteous on earth, and the declaration of glory to God in the highest. Kraf uses the double SATB choir to create a rich and resonant sound, ideal for conveying the jubilant message of this sacred motet. The interplay between the two choirs allows for dynamic contrasts and a grand sense of occasion, making it a fitting choice for Christmas services or festive concerts where a strong, polyphonic texture is desired.
