About Hodie Christus natus est
The words paint a scene of immense joy as they proclaim Christ's birth. The text, a popular liturgical antiphon, rejoices in the arrival of the Savior on earth, with angels and archangels singing and exulting. This setting for AAATTTBB voices in Latin captures the jubilant spirit of the occasion. The composer Sam Landman crafts a musical expression of this profound event, allowing the six vocal parts to build the celebratory atmosphere. It is a powerful and moving setting of a text that has inspired composers for centuries, perfect for bringing a moment of divine exultation to a choral concert or service.
