Dextera Domini by Valentin Rathgeber — Lyrics
Dextera Domini fecit virtutem, dextera Domini exaltavit me.
Non moriar, sed vivam, et narrabo opera Domini.
About Dextera Domini
Valentin Rathgeber was a German composer and organist of the Baroque era. This setting of the Latin Offertory text is for SATB choir. The words, drawn from Psalm 117 and Psalm 118, speak of God's powerful right hand raising one up, and the assurance of life to recount God's works. Rathgeber's music would have been performed within the context of Catholic liturgy, likely as part of the Mass propers. The composition reflects the sacred musical traditions of its time and place.
