Dextera Domini by Samuel Friedrich Capricornus — Lyrics
Dextera Domini fecit virtutem, dextera Domini exaltavit me.
Non moriar, sed vivam, et narrabo opera Domini.
About Dextera Domini
The powerful words of Psalm 118, 'The right hand of the Lord has done valiantly, the right hand of the Lord has exalted me,' form the basis of this sacred motet. The text continues with a triumphant declaration of life and praise: 'I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.' Samuel Friedrich Capricornus sets this confident biblical passage for two-part female voices (SS) in Latin. This motet would be a stirring choice for a choir seeking a concise yet impactful work with a strong devotional message.
