About Ave Regina coelorum
This setting of the Ave Regina coelorum, a beautiful Marian antiphon, is ideal for occasions honouring the Virgin Mary. Sigismund Ritter von Neukomm's SSA setting captures the devotional spirit of the text, which implores Mary as Queen of Heaven and Earth, and as the glorious Virgin, to pray for us. The soaring vocal lines would suit a moment of quiet reflection in a service, or a concert programme seeking a touch of serene beauty. The Latin text, a familiar prayer, is treated with clarity and grace, making this an accessible yet spiritually resonant choice for female choirs.
