About Ave Regina coelorum

This setting of the Marian antiphon Ave Regina coelorum is suitable for occasions in the liturgical year when the Virgin Mary is honoured. The SATB choir responds to the solemnity of the Latin text, which hails Mary as Queen of Heaven and Earth, Mother of Angels, and the root and gate from which light has sprung into the world. The text rejoices in her unique beauty and asks her to pray for us to Christ. The composer remains anonymous, but the music itself is crafted with a clear, direct devotional purpose, making it an accessible yet profound offering for a mixed-voice choir.
