Sanctus (IGBO)

"Nsọ Nsọ Nsọ" is a vibrant Igbo setting of the Sanctus, composed by Austinmary Paul Anuebunwa. The piece opens with a majestic, repeating proclamation of "Nsọ" (Holy), building a sense of reverence and awe before declaring the Lord God of hosts ("Oseburuwa Chineke nke igwe ndị agha"). The steady, layered entrances of the choir parts across the opening measures create a dynamic texture that draws the congregation into the heart of the Eucharistic Prayer.

In the choir loft, this setting brings a lively and rhythmic energy to the Mass. The transition into the "Hozana" chorus lifts the voices in joyful acclamation, with a driving tempo that feels both celebratory and deeply prayerful. The final section, "Ọ dị ngọzi bụ Onye bịara" (Blessed is he who comes), flows naturally back into the Hosanna chorus, completing the traditional text. It is a fitting choice for festive Sunday Masses, inviting everyone to join the heavenly hosts in praising God's glory.
