About ORU ITUNANYA

"Oru Itunanya" is a vibrant Igbo thanksgiving piece by Fabian Ayogwu that calls the congregation to marvel at the wonderful works of God. From the opening bass introduction, the song builds an atmosphere of awe and gratitude, reminding us that every blessing we enjoy comes directly from the Creator.

The lyrics are a perfect fit for the Offertory procession. The refrain invites the faithful to look closely at God's goodness in their lives and respond by bringing joyful, worthy gifts to the altar. In the verses, a distinctive Tenor and Bass duet introduces the theme of God's glory and abundant grace, before the full choir sweeps in. The choir sings of how God sustains our very breath, protects our going out and coming in, and faithfully provides the rain and the sun in their due seasons.

For a choir, this piece offers a lively and rhythmic way to lead the church in thanksgiving. The layered vocal entries and the driving solfa arrangement give the music a natural momentum. It is a song that asks a simple but profound question: since our entire lives are held in God's hands, what will we use to thank Him? Singing this during Mass encourages everyone to step forward with genuine joy and gratitude.
