About Mimo
When the Eucharistic Prayer reaches its great acclamation, the choir leads the congregation in the Sanctus, singing of the Lord's unending glory. "Mimo" (Holy) is a vibrant Yoruba setting of this ancient text, arranged by Rownick Enebali. It captures the reverence of the heavenly host while grounding it in a distinctly Nigerian choral rhythm.
The piece opens with the solemn declaration "Mimo l'Olodumare" (Holy is the Lord God), building into the joyful "Hosanna l'oke orun o" (Hosanna in the highest). In the choir loft, this is the moment where the voices must lift and carry the entire church into the mystery of the Mass. The steady, rhythmic flow of the Yoruba text gives the song a natural, uplifting momentum, making it a beautiful choice for Sunday worship and feast days alike.
