About Domine Jesu Christe
The Requiem Mass text begins with an invocation to Christ, the good shepherd, asking him to preserve the righteous and forgive the sins of all the faithful departed. Pierre de Manchicourt's setting of Domine Jesu Christe for STTB voices captures the solemnity of this plea. The text moves from supplication for the departed to a profound request for mercy in life and at the hour of death. This motet, composed in Latin, offers a poignant reflection on mortality and divine compassion, making it a powerful choice for services or concerts.
