Confitebor by Johann Melchior Gletle — Lyrics
Alleluja. Confitebor tibi, Domine, in toto corde meo, in consilio justorum,
et congregatione.
Magna opera Domini: exquisita in omnes voluntates ejus.
Confessio et magnificentia opus ejus, et justitia ejus manet in saeculum saeculi.
Memoriam fecit mirabilium suorum, misericors et miserator
Dominus.
Escam dedit timentibus se; memor erit in saeculum testamenti sui.

About Confitebor
This setting of Psalm 111 in Latin, Confitebor tibi, Domine, is scored for SSATB voices. The text is a hymn of praise and thanksgiving, extolling the mighty works and justice of God, and remembering his covenant. Gletle's music likely reflects the solemn grandeur of the words, appropriate for a sacred Vespers setting. The composer, Johann Melchior Gletle, was active in the Baroque period. This work offers rich opportunities for vocal colour and expression within the context of a substantial sacred text.
