About Confirma hoc Deus
Wilhelm Meyer Lutz's Confirma hoc Deus is a setting of a Latin Offertory text, intended for SATB choir. The composer was a prolific organist and conductor of the late 19th century, known for his sacred music and operettas. This motet draws its text from Psalm 68:28-29, imploring God to "strengthen, O God, what you have wrought in us". The words continue, "From your temple, which is in Jerusalem, kings shall offer gifts to you," followed by an Alleluia. This sacred work would serve powerfully in a liturgical context, particularly during the Offertory rite.
