About Confirma hoc Deus
The words Confirma hoc Deus, quod operatus es in nobis, from Psalm 68, are a prayer for God to strengthen what He has wrought in us, asking that kings may offer gifts to Him from His temple in Jerusalem. Salieri sets this Latin text for SATB choir. The motet is an offering of praise and supplication. The composer provides a setting of rich harmonic colour, suitable for liturgical use or the concert platform. The music builds to a powerful climax on the word Alleluia.
