About Ave Verum Corpus
Pascal Picard sets the familiar Latin text of the Ave Verum Corpus. This devotional text, a Eucharistic hymn often used in Catholic liturgy, meditates on Christ's suffering and sacrifice. The composer's setting is for SATB choir, offering a rich choral sonority to explore the profound spiritual meaning of the words. The music aims to capture the solemnity and tenderness inherent in the text, inviting contemplation on the central mysteries of the faith. Picard’s composition provides an accessible yet moving rendition of this ancient prayer, suitable for sacred occasions.
