About Ave Maris Stella
This sacred setting of the traditional Marian antiphon Ave Maris Stella is for two voices, an alto and a bass. The Latin text addresses the Virgin Mary as Star of the Sea, mother of God, and ever-virgin, praying for peace and guidance. It asks her to show herself a mother, to accept prayers and to grant a pure life and a safe journey. The prayer concludes with praise to God the Father, Christ, and the Holy Spirit.
