SANCTUS (THE LIBERA) by Law. X. Okon — Lyrics
About SANCTUS (THE LIBERA)
"Sanctus (The Libera)" is a reverent and majestic setting of the "Holy, Holy, Holy," the great hymn of praise sung just before the Eucharistic Prayer. Arranged by Law. X. Okon, this piece captures the awe of the heavenly liturgy, inviting the choir and congregation to join their voices with the angels. It is a staple moment in the Catholic Mass where the music must carry both profound humility and soaring joy.
The arrangement opens with three bold, deliberate proclamations of "Sanctus!" that immediately command attention in the choir loft. From there, the voices move into the sweeping "Pleni sunt caeli" (Heaven and earth are full of your glory). A beautiful contrast emerges as the triumphant "Hosanna in excelsis" gives way to the gentle, flowing lines of the "Benedictus." The score includes a traditional instruction to return to the Hosanna at the end, creating a complete, uplifting arc that grounds the faithful as they enter the most solemn part of the liturgy.
