NWATURU NKE CHINEKE

"Nwaturu Nke Chineke" is a reverent setting of the Agnus Dei, drawn from Iyke Alagwu’s Missa Saint Joseph Vol. III. Sung during the breaking of the bread, this piece carries the solemnity and quiet awe of the Catholic Mass. The music gently calls upon the Lamb of God, asking for mercy before leading the congregation into a final, settling prayer for peace.

In the choir loft, this arrangement offers a gentle moment of vocal interplay. The voices weave together through the familiar Igbo text, with the lower parts echoing the plea "meere anyị ebere" (have mercy on us) while the soprano line floats above. As the piece transitions into its final section, the repeated, layered lines of "nye anyị udo" (grant us peace) create a calming and steady resolution. It is a deeply grounding piece to sing, preparing the hearts of the faithful to receive Communion.
