NARA AJA ANYI (CONSECRATION) by Charles Onwubuya — Lyrics
About NARA AJA ANYI (CONSECRATION)
"Nara Aja Anyi" (Accept Our Sacrifice) is a vibrant and deeply reverent Offertory hymn, widely sung in Nigerian Catholic parishes during the presentation of the gifts. Arranged by Charles I. Onwubuya, the song captures the essence of the Eucharistic offering, asking God to accept the bread and wine brought to the altar ("achịcha na mmanya") and to transform them with His grace.
The verses carry a warm message of thanksgiving and divine generosity, reminding the congregation that when we thank God, He blesses us until our cups overflow. The melody later builds into a soaring, joyful bridge that echoes the "Hosanna," praising the Lord whose glory fills heaven and earth. It is a wonderful piece for a choir to sing as the community brings their intentions and gifts forward, asking the Messiah to bless the offering and make it good.
