MIMO MIMO MIMO by Abraham I. Inetiabor — Lyrics
About MIMO MIMO MIMO
When it is time for the Eucharistic Prayer to begin, the choir leads the congregation in the Sanctus, joining the song of the angels. "Mimo Mimo Mimo" is a vibrant Yoruba setting of this ancient text, bringing a distinctly Nigerian rhythm and warmth to the heart of the Mass. Arranged by Abraham I. Inetiabor, the piece is marked *Con anima* (with soul), and it truly asks the choir to sing with deep reverence and joyful energy.
The arrangement builds beautifully from its opening. The voices declare the holiness of God ("Mímọ mímọ mímọ l'Oluwa") before moving into a bright, rhythmic Hosanna that lifts the spirit of the whole church. In the second half, the melody shifts to welcome the one who comes in the name of the Lord ("Fi bukun nif'ẹni ton bọ wa l'orukọ Oluwa"), maintaining that same uplifting momentum. It is a wonderful choice for choirs looking to sing the Mass parts in Yoruba, offering a setting that is both liturgically grounded and full of life.
