About In illo tempore
Francesco Soriano sets a Gospel text in Latin, depicting the Transfiguration of Jesus. The words describe Jesus leading Peter, James, and John up a high mountain where he is transformed before them, his face shining like the sun and his clothes white as snow. Moses and Elijah appear, and Peter, overcome, suggests building three tabernacles. A bright cloud then overshadows them, and a voice from within declares, 'This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; listen to him.' The disciples fall down in fear until Jesus approaches them. This sacred motet is written for double choir (SATB.SATB), offering rich contrapuntal possibilities to portray the divine glory and the disciples' awe.
