In illo tempore

Tielman Susato’s motet In illo tempore is a setting of a passage from the Acts of the Apostles, recounting how Peter and John were sent to Samaria to lay hands upon new believers so that they might receive the Holy Spirit. Composed for SATTB voices, this sacred Latin motet would be particularly fitting for services during the Easter season, or indeed at any time when the work of the apostles and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit are themes of reflection. Susato’s skillful writing for this five-part choir would have been well-suited to the liturgical and ceremonial settings of the Renaissance period, offering a rich and resonant musical experience.
