About I will lay me down in peace
Jennifer Bastable’s anthem I will lay me down in peace is set for SATB choir. The text draws from Psalm 4, offering a prayer for deliverance and peace in times of trouble. The composer has set the Latin verses of the psalm alongside an English translation, creating a work that bridges ancient scripture with contemporary understanding. The music explores themes of supplication and ultimate trust, as the text moves from invoking God in distress to finding solace and joy in His presence. This sacred anthem is suitable for services and concerts where a reflective yet ultimately uplifting message is desired.
