About I will lay me down in peace
This anthem, I will lay me down in peace, for SATB choir, is suitable for services of reflection or remembrance. The text draws from Psalm 4, with verses both in Latin and English, offering a prayer for divine protection and solace. The composer, William F. Sudds, sets this familiar scripture with a blend of solemnity and hopeful assurance. The setting moves between languages, creating a rich devotional experience for both singers and listeners. It provides a moment of peace and trust in God's faithfulness, making it an appropriate choice for contemplative moments within a liturgical context.
