HOLY! HOLY!! HOLY!!!

When the Eucharistic Prayer begins, we need a Sanctus that the whole congregation can feel and join in with. Mark Obinna’s setting of "Holy! Holy!! Holy!!!" does exactly that. It takes the familiar English text of the Mass and gives it a steady, rhythmic drive that keeps everyone moving together.

The arrangement is straightforward but has a few lovely touches that make it fun to sing. After the opening lines and the short verses proclaiming God's glory, the refrain introduces a wonderful moment for the bass section. While the upper voices rest, the basses take the lead with a rolling "Hosanna in the highest," before the full choir comes back in to finish the acclamation. It is a bright, confident piece that brings a real sense of joy to the altar.
