About Hodie nobis coelorum rex
Composed for Christmas, Teodoro Riccio's Hodie nobis coelorum rex is a motet for double choir (STTBB, SAATB). The Latin text rejoices in the birth of Christ, the King of Heaven, born of a Virgin to redeem lost humanity and lead us to heavenly kingdoms. The music reflects the text's message of joy, with the angelic hosts celebrating the appearance of eternal salvation for humankind. The setting includes the traditional Gloria in excelsis Deo and a message of peace on earth, amplifying the festive and devotional spirit of the season.
