Hodie nobis coelorum rex

This motet by Giovanni Battista Nanino is ideal for Christmas services. The Latin text celebrates the birth of Christ, proclaiming that the King of Heaven was born of a virgin to bring lost humanity back to the heavenly kingdom. It rejoices in the appearance of eternal salvation for humankind, echoing the angelic proclamation of glory to God and peace on earth. Nanino sets this jubilant message for SATB and SAAT voices, creating rich harmonies that convey the spiritual significance and festive atmosphere of the Nativity.
