GLORY TO GOD

B.A. Edafioka’s "Glory To God" captures this festive spirit beautifully, offering a bright and structured setting of the ancient angelic hymn. We sing this piece to lift the congregation's hearts right after the Penitential Rite, setting a tone of triumphant praise for Sundays and feast days.

The score thoughtfully divides the long prose of the Gloria into distinct, melodic sections. After the familiar opening refrain of peace to people of good will, the choir moves through the text in five parts. Each verse shifts the focus, from blessing the heavenly King to pleading for mercy from the Lamb of God, before building up to the final, resounding Amen with the Holy Spirit. It is a wonderful arrangement that keeps the text clear and allows every voice part to shine in worship.
