OTITO DIIRI CHINEKE by Ugochukwu Martin — Lyrics
About OTITO DIIRI CHINEKE
"Otito Diiri Chineke" is a vibrant Igbo setting of the Gloria, composed by Ugochukwu Martin. In the Catholic Mass, the Gloria is the great hymn of praise, and this arrangement captures that triumphant spirit right from its opening notes. The melody is bright and rhythmic, inviting the entire congregation to join the choir in proclaiming glory to God in the highest and peace to His people on earth.
The score moves gracefully through the traditional sections of the prayer. After the joyful opening chorus, the verses shift into a more reverent, petitionary tone as the choir sings "Gị onye n'ekpocha njọ nke ụwa" (You who take away the sins of the world), before building back up to a majestic conclusion affirming the Holy Trinity. It is an excellent choice for festive Sunday Masses and solemnities, where the choir loft can truly lead the church in a unified voice of thanksgiving.
