About Deutsche Messe
Franz Stolle's Deutsche Messe is a sacred setting of the Mass in German. Composed for SATB choir, this vernacular setting allows the congregation to participate more directly in the liturgy through the use of their native tongue. The Kyrie, for example, sets words of humble confession and a plea for divine guidance, asking God to draw our minds and hearts towards Him. The Gloria expresses praise and gratitude to God. The Credo reflects on the teachings of Christ, praying for faithful hearing and practical application of His words, linking earthly faith with heavenly hope.
