About Deutsche Messe
Franz Bühler's Deutsche Messe is a setting of the Ordinary and Proper texts of the Mass in German. This vernacular Mass setting is suitable for liturgical occasions, offering a complete musical structure for services. The SAB voicing makes it accessible for choirs of varying sizes and abilities, while the German text connects directly with the congregation. The work includes sections for congregational singing as well as parts for the choir, reflecting a tradition of congregational participation in Mass settings. Its scope covers a full Mass, from the opening penitential address to the final blessing, making it a comprehensive choice for church choirs.
