About Ave verum
Cesare Gussago was an Italian composer of the late Renaissance and early Baroque periods. This setting of the sacred Latin text Ave verum corpus is for SAB choir. The text, a devotional meditation on Christ's sacrifice, finds a moving expression in Gussago's sensitive musical setting. The composer's skill is evident in the homophonic texture that clearly enunciates the solemn words, creating a piece of profound spiritual weight, suitable for liturgical occasions or as a moving concert motet.
