About Ave Regina Caelorum
Carlo Cozzi's Ave Regina Caelorum is a sacred motet for SAB choir setting a beautiful Latin text. This Marian antiphon, traditionally sung in honour of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is a prayer calling on her as Queen of Heaven and Earth. The text proclaims her glory and beauty, addressing her as the 'root' and 'gate' from which Christ brought light to the world. It implores her to rejoice and, finally, to intercede for us with her Son. Cozzi's setting offers a rich opportunity for expressive musical interpretation, bringing this ancient prayer to life for modern choirs.
