Angelus Domini by Antonio Cifra — Lyrics
Angelus enim[autem] Domini descendit de coelo, et accedens revolvit lapidem,

About Angelus Domini
Antonio Cifra’s setting of the Angelus Domini for two-part female voices opens with a sense of serene unfolding. The composer crafts a gentle, flowing melodic line that gradually builds in intensity as the text describes the angel descending from heaven and speaking to the women at the tomb. The intimate voicing for SS is perfectly suited to conveying the wonder and peace of the Easter message: 'Do not be afraid; He is not here, He has risen.' Cifra’s skilful word-painting captures the stillness of the stone being rolled away and the triumphant joy of the Resurrection. This motet is a moving and accessible setting of a significant moment from the Gospel narrative, suitable for services or concerts.
