Angelus Domini by Josef Gruber — Lyrics
About Angelus Domini
This SATB setting of the Angelus Domini is ideal for services during the Easter season. The Latin text, drawn from the Gospel account of the Resurrection, recounts the descent of an angel from heaven to the women at the tomb. The angel announces Christ's rising, echoing his own prophecy: 'He is risen as he said, alleluja.' Josef Gruber’s music provides a fittingly reverent and uplifting choral setting for this foundational Easter narrative, suitable for offertory or communion moments. The directness of the text and its joyous message are well-served by the rich harmonies of the SATB voicing.
