Aja di Aso by Fred Y.C. Uche — Lyrics
About Aja di Aso
This manuscript brings together two distinct pieces of liturgical music, serving different moments in the life of the church.
The first, "Aja di Aso", is an Igbo offertory hymn composed by Fred Y.C. Uche in 1975. It is a reverent call to offer a worthy sacrifice to God, asking the Father to accept the gifts, honor, and praise brought by the congregation. Choirs often sing this during the preparation of the gifts, setting a tone of deep worship and thanksgiving as the bread and wine are brought to the altar.
The second piece, "Uphold Them in Your Love" by Okwy Paul, is a short, touching response for the Prayer of the Faithful. Its lyrics specifically ask God to protect a couple He has brought together, making it a perfect sung response for a Nuptial Mass or a wedding anniversary, where the community prays for the couple's enduring bond.
