Alexander Okonkwo’s "Regina Caeli" offers a vibrant English setting of the traditional Marian antiphon, bringing the joy of the Easter season straight into the choir loft. Right from the opening solo, the piece establishes a bright, celebratory mood that calls the whole congregation to honor the Queen of Heaven. The music shifts beautifully between full, resounding choral praise and more intimate moments, capturing the awe and devotion we feel when looking to Mary.

During the Easter season, this piece shines as a reflection on the Resurrection. The verses, marked as a duet for soprano and tenor, walk us through a litany of joyful praises—"Rejoice O Queen so fair," "Jesus rose from the dead just as He hath said." These lines build a sense of triumphant gladness before flowing back into the energetic refrain. It is a wonderful choice for communion or as a recessional hymn when the church is still ringing with Easter alleluias.

What makes this arrangement particularly moving is the gentle "Adagietto" section tucked near the end.
