Stay with me

This score brings together two profound moments of Holy Thursday, guiding the choir and congregation through the solemn evening of the Lord's Supper. The first section features the familiar Taizé chant "Stay With Me" (Bleibet Hier). With its repeating ostinato and poignant solo verses, it draws singers into Christ's agony in the garden of Gethsemane. The simple, meditative plea to "watch and pray" creates a deeply reflective atmosphere, often used during the transfer of the Eucharist and the period of adoration that follows the Mass.

The second page provides the traditional antiphons for the Washing of Feet. Setting the scriptural dialogue between Jesus and Peter, the music accompanies the priest as he washes the feet of the parishioners. The verses remind the gathered community of Christ's mandate to serve one another in love. Singing these texts in plain solfa notation allows the choir to focus on the gravity and humility of the rite, anchoring the liturgy in the very words of the Gospel.
