REMEMBER ME

"Remember Me" is a deeply moving choral piece that takes us straight to the heart of Holy Thursday. Deborah Govenor’s composition brings together the intimate moments of the Last Supper and the heavy sorrow of the Garden of Gethsemane. As a choir, singing this feels like stepping into the upper room; the opening lines recount Christ breaking the bread and sharing the cup, asking his friends to remember him.

The arrangement uses the different sections of the choir to dramatic effect. The women’s voices carry the narrative of Christ’s betrayal and his solitary prayer in the garden, while the men take on the agonizing plea: "If it be your will, let this cup pass from me."
