OTITO DIRI CHINEKE

"Otito Diri Chineke" and "Onyenweanyi Mee Ebere" form a beautiful pairing of the Gloria and Kyrie, essential parts of the Catholic Mass. Composed by Fr. Bart C. Ezeokafor, this setting brings the traditional Igbo liturgical texts to life through rich choral harmony. The Gloria opens with a joyful proclamation of peace on earth, structured so that the choir maintains a soft, continuous refrain while the sopranos lead the verses of praise, blessing, and adoration to God the Father and Jesus Christ.

In contrast, the Kyrie ("Onyenweanyi Mee Ebere") is marked *Doloroso*, carrying a solemn and reflective tone fitting for the Penitential Rite. The voices weave together in a heartfelt plea for God's mercy, moving from the call to the Lord, to Christ, and back again. Together, these pieces guide the congregation through the early moments of the Mass, shifting beautifully from humble repentance to exultant thanksgiving.
