Only Time

When a choir steps away from traditional hymns to explore contemporary choral arrangements, pieces like Enya's "Only Time" offer a quiet moment of reflection. This arrangement captures the ethereal, atmospheric quality of the original song and translates it into a rich choral experience. The lyrics ask gentle, lingering questions about where life and love will lead us, answering simply that "only time" holds the truth.

For a Nigerian choir, preparing a piece like this often means focusing heavily on blend and breath control. The score includes the signature rhythmic vocalizations—the "de da dae" interludes—that mimic the sweeping instrumental layers of the original track. Singing these passages requires the voices to move together like a single instrument, creating a wash of sound that supports the haunting melody.

While not a liturgical piece for the Mass, this kind of arrangement finds its perfect home in choir concerts, special presentations, or moments of quiet meditation. It is a gentle reminder of the unknown paths we all walk, bringing a sense of peace and stillness to both the singers and the audience who hear it.
