"Oge'rugo" is a joyful, rhythmic call to the altar. In Igbo, the title means "The time has come," signaling the exact moment in the Mass when the congregation is invited to step forward with their gifts. As an Offertory hymn, it captures the essence of Catholic thanksgiving in Nigeria—it is not just about dropping a collection, but about a physical, communal procession of gratitude.

The lyrics remind us that the best gifts are those brought with a clean heart ("obi ocha") and a humble spirit ("obi umeala"). Innocent Okechukwu’s arrangement reflects this perfectly. It opens with a warm, inviting call before breaking into a lively, syncopated refrain that naturally makes you want to sway as you walk down the aisle.

What makes this piece especially fun for a choir to sing is the vibrant ostinato section near the end. The voices layer over one another in a cascade of praises—"kene Chukwu" (thank God)—building up the energy in the choir loft. Then, just as the procession finishes, the instruments drop away for a beautiful, hushed a cappella finish on the words "Chukwu oma" (Good God), leaving the church in a state of quiet reverence for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
