NWABUEZE =Uplifted= by Emma Urom Eze — Lyrics
About NWABUEZE =Uplifted=
"Nwabueze" (Uplifted) is a vibrant Igbo thanksgiving anthem composed by Emma Urom Eze (Ancestor Savio) to celebrate divine elevation. The song was originally inspired by and dedicated to Rev. Fr. Nwabueze Denis Uche for his first Holy Mass, capturing the profound joy of a newly ordained priest reflecting on God's grace. The title points to the dignity God bestows on His children, crowning them with royal favor.
The lyrics are a heartfelt testimony of God raising the lowly. The choir sings of being lifted from the dust to the heights ("O si na ebe an'ekpọ afịfịa wee bunie m'enu"), marveling at the transformation from nothingness to abundance. It is a song of pure gratitude, asking what one could possibly give back to the Creator who has done such marvelous things. The piece builds into a lively climax and an expressive Alto solo, driving home the message that no one can question the blessings God has ordained.
In the liturgy, this piece shines brightly during the Offertory or as a thanksgiving hymn, especially during ordinations, first Masses, or any celebration of personal milestones. Its energetic rhythm and call-and-response structure make it a perfect choice for Nigerian Catholic choirs looking to lead the congregation in a spirited, joyful dance of praise.
